Guardian Angel

When you are frightened, I am the voice that comforts you.
When you are hurting, I am the one that soothes you.
When you feel lost, I am the hand that guides you.
When you're alone, I am there beside you.
When it is dark, I am the light.
When things go wrong, I make them right.
When you stumble, I will hold your hand.
When you fail, I will understand.

Things happen for a reason,
there’s nothing we can do.
Just know that there’ll always be someone
who’s watching over you.

Dedicated to the memory of Alzira Rodrigues.

I Hope Something Falls On You [Paperback]

After hitting #3 on the iTunes Poetry Book chart, 'I Hope Something Falls On You' is now available as a paperback from Lulu.

Precious Illusions

My precious illusions that run through my head,
they don’t let me down or leave me in the cold,
no waiting around, no word left untold.
A shoulder to lean on, my shelter from the rain,
kisses and cuddles to soothe away the pain.

The alternate reality I create exists solely in my head.
Internal projections and expectations leave my heart misled.

My throat is sore, my heart aches,
the curtain falls, the filter breaks.

I’ve raced ahead again, you turn to walk away,
I cast you as Prince Charming but my hero went astray.
Why aren’t you what I imagined? The tricks my mind has played.
How do I go back and change those tracks that I’ve mislaid?

No Apologies

My feelings are my own
they don’t need your consent.
Ignore it or accept
don’t try to object.
My heart needs defences
for the choices that it makes.
Numb to common sense
blind to its mistakes.

These words I tried to hide
but I can’t deny
I like you
and I’m making no apologies

Sanctuary

Here comes the rain
to wash away the joy.
Left numb and melancholic,
empty heart and homesick.
Subject to constant parody,
only drone, there is no melody.
What remains is awkward silence,
death, tragedy, greed & violence.

Here comes the pain
to wipe away the hope.
Shrouded deep in heartache,
all their words are fake.
No more truth and honesty,
lost behind their vanity.
The stench of this reality,
I’m driven to insanity.

Here comes the rain
to wash away my dreams.
They all point straight,
and campaign for hate.
The clouds are forming overhead,
it’s the part I always dread.
The gloves are off,
the razor’s sharp.
Their vicious lies
made for my demise.

All I have to do is close my eyes,
and visualise.
Disconnected from the world outside,
I sit and hide.
I’m buried deep in thought and fantasy.
Nothing can hurt me now,
‘coz I’m in my Sanctuary.
